Forward-looking assessment is exactly what is stated, namely to consider situations current students would in future encounter. To consider the knowledge, skills and experiences current students would in such future scenarios need in order to successfully deal with such situations.
Once there is clarity about the future scenarios, questions or problems need to be formulated which when answered or solved would have drawn from the relevant knowledge and skills (learned in academic modules) and given the student the relevant experience of real-life replicas. Fink (2005: 13) says “certain assumptions or constraints can be given”.
