The text with an image of a Discovery Vitality post on Facebook got me thinking.
It is inherently paradoxical. Like these off-ramps off highways where you turn left to end up going right over or under. Adopting a healthier lifestyle often requires a paradigm shift of pursuing exercise, adapting eating habits, portion control, and a myriad small adjudgments. All worth the adaptations to become healthier.
One of Discovery’s endeavours is to encourage medical aid members to pursue better lifestyles. One of the means towards this end is through annual health checks, which would hopefully spark further action.
For me occasional walking resulted in frequent walking and occasional running; which in turn became a frequent endeavour, of pursuing road races and trail runs. Whatever one decides on, it requires time, dedication, and lifestyle adjustments. People are often, for various reasons, caught up in just coping with life’s demands that there is little opportunity for changes.
