The other day a man expressed his delight while eating 'pap' with lunch and remarked that he married a woman that does not eat or cook 'pap'. I thought by myself that I will do a post describing how simple it is to make it for yourself in the microwave oven.
Buy a small packet of maize meel and keep it in the kitchen. When you feel like enjoying 'pap' with your partner's prepared food, prepare it for yourself in a few minutes.
- Boil sufficient water in the kettle
- Take about one third in volume of the helping of 'pap' you would like and put it a pyrex bowl
- Add salt to taste
- Add about two thirds of boiling water
- Take a whisk and make sure the maze meel are well disolved in the water
Place in the microwave for 2-3 minutes- Take out and whisk again, add more water if required
- Repeat steps 6-7 twice of three times
Any porridge can be made in this way, within a few minutes.
Impress your visitors and make a porridge tart, by transfering half of the 'pap' made into a pyrex dish as bottom layer.
Spread cooked onions, mushrooms, bacon or any thing you think would taste nice. Add the remainder of the 'pap' and finish with grated cheese on top. Stick it in the oven and surprise your visitors.
